Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaking. She founded Feminist Frequency a website that provides commentary and videos on depictions of women's roles in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. In her efforts to dispel the myths that are associated with females in pop culture, she seeks to bring attention to harassment targeted at women and other marginalized classes of the Internet world. Sarkeesian, who has an MA in Social and Political Thinking from York University, is a popular public speaker. She has spoken at the TEDxWomen festival as well as United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Since her early years, Sarkeesian was fascinated with gender issues and feminist thought. When she was still in school, in 2009, she created her Feminist Frequency website. She was a young woman who wanted to create an online series to examine the gender roles in games. In the end, she ended up being victimized by online harassment. She was not deterred from the attack, and in fact it only reinforced her determination to be a media critic and feminist. In recognition of the many accomplishments she's made to feminism, she is recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and was the creator of Feminist Frequency. This non-profit educational organization studies women's roles within the popular culture stories.
